Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 15 – The First Session of the Bilateral Consultations between the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Belgian Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation took place on 7 February 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was co-chaired on the Cambodian side by Secretary of State Chem Whidya, and on the Belgian side by Director of Asia and Oceania François Delhaye.

“At the outset, Chem Widhya expressed his deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Belgium for the invaluable assistance to Cambodia over the years, which have significantly contributed to the socio-economic development of Cambodia, especially the assistance on Agriculture, Health, Education, Environmental Protection and Social Protection, Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) and Demining Activities. He highlighted the importance of the bilateral political relations between the two countries as evidenced by the attendance of Cambodian Leaders at high-Level meetings in Belgium as well as the interactions of the two countries Foreign Ministers on the sideline of international fora. He also briefed on the latest political situation and economic development in Cambodia as well as the Six Priorities Programme and the Pentagonal Strategy Phase I of the new Royal Government of Cambodia,” according to the outcomes seen by Fresh News on Thursday (Feb. 15).
