Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 14 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called for active participation and unwavering will of all relevant ministries and institutions in the Public Financial Management Reform, as defined in the vision and strategy document on the Public Financial Management Reform Program-Stage 4 (PFMRP-Stage 4).

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Feb. 14) during the 2023 annual meeting of the PFMRP-Stage 4 at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

“I urge all relevant ministries and institutions to continue to actively participate in accordance with their mission, position, work agenda and accountability with ownership as well as an unwavering will to implement this reform program, as defined in the vision and strategy document on the PFMRP-Stage 4”, the premier underlined.

Samdech Thipadei has expressed optimism for the successful implementation of the fourth phase. He hoped that lessons learned and positive experiences will guide the process, emphasizing the importance of ongoing monitoring and evaluation.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also underscored the need for collective efforts in addressing challenges and overcoming obstacles with a spirit of solidarity, cooperation, and high coordination. The ultimate goal is to realize the vision of establishing the Cambodian public financial management system in accordance with international standards and best practices.

Premier Hun Manet is also delighted to announce the launching of the Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS), extending the full implementation of current expenditure procedures to an additional 44 municipal, district, and khan administrations. This milestone marks a significant accomplishment for the Royal Government in its ongoing efforts to reform public financial management.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that the success of reform efforts hinges on robust cooperation among all relevant stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on the institution itself. The ongoing public financial reform is geared towards optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of both national and sub-national institutions. The overarching goal is to ensure they fulfil their roles with utmost efficacy, serving the people and contributing collaboratively to the development of Cambodia's economy and society.
