Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 13 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet advised Cambodian Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Pornmoniroth and also Chairman of the Committee on Economic and Financial Policy to review the inspection mechanism to ensure there is no overlap in roles.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Feb. 13) during the annual meeting of the Ministry of Inspection at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

"Sometimes, it is challenging. Currently, at the national level, we have four institutions involved in this (inspection) such as the National Audit Authority, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Inspection, the Ministry of Civil Service, who has the right to inspect the ministries, from sub-national institutions to the provincial level.” The premier underscored.

Previously, regarding the inspection task, the Royal Government of Cambodia issued Sub-Decree No. 168 in 2020 to facilitate the inspection task. Samdech Thipadei urged to use this sub-decree in the spirit of strengthening the inspection work.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei added that Cambodia has four national inspection bodies and asked whether it can set up a top mechanism to facilitate the implementation of these mechanisms or assign to lead the monitoring of inspection tasks.
