Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 13 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the renaming of the Ministry of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection to the Ministry of Inspection at the beginning of the new mandate signifies a sharpening of the Ministry’s role to become a crucial component of the Royal Government on governance task.

It also affirmed the Royal Government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the duties of the Ministry of Inspection to serve more actively as civil officers, the premier spoke on Tuesday (Feb. 13) during the annual meeting of the Ministry of Inspection at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

"The Ministry of Inspection plays a crucial role. Although we changed the name, the responsibilities are still the same. The name change reflects the Royal Government's willingness to sharpen the task of the Ministry of Inspection to play a more active role as a staff to the Royal Government in strengthening the governance tasks,” the premier underscored.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei added that reforming the National Inspection and Institutions is an essential task, while monitoring work, as the core principle of the Royal Government in the seventh-mandate, resembles reform, strengthening governance, and modernizing state institutions to become modern public administrations with high capacity, intelligence, and cleanliness.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet continued that the inspection work must be done most effectively and interconnectedly. The Ministry of Inspection is a mechanism of the Royal Government that inspects all sectors.

On 14 September 2023, during the first session of the National Assembly's 7th Legislature voted in favour 114/114 to change the name of the Ministry of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection to Ministry of Inspection.
