Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 8 – In the past eight months, from August 2023 to January 2024, Cambodia has approved 172 investment projects with a total investment capital of nearly USD 4 billion, which is expected to create 190,000 jobs.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed frustration with critics who question the efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia in attracting investors, despite the tangible results.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Feb. 8) at the annual meeting of the Ministry of Labour at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "When we talk about attracting investments, critics emerge, accusing us of boasting without tangible outcomes. They call us arrogant, but we have evidence of real progress,” the premier underlined.

Samdech Thipadei continued, “However, when the CDC (Council for the Development of Cambodia) reports that in the past eight months (August 2023 to January 2024), we have attracted 172 new projects with an investment of USD 3.86 billion, this is not just a statement, but these 172 projects consisted of both domestic and foreign investments."

The premier added that in January 2024 alone, 32 projects were approved by the CDC with an investment capital of nearly USD 200 million. He urged critics to recognize the substantial contributions made by these projects.

Please be informed that in 2023, Cambodia approved a total of 268 investment projects, amounting to nearly USD 5 billion in total investment capital.

In 2023, most of the investment projects were located in Kampong Speu province, with additional investments concentrated in Phnom Penh and its surrounding provinces, including Kandal, Takeo, Svay Rieng, and Preah Sihanouk Province.
