Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed concerns about Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools generating convincing misinformation, posing a potential danger to society and the world.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Jan. 23) during the closing of annual meeting of the Ministry of Information at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

"Creating fake information for malicious purposes is a significant threat. That is why AI is becoming a concern globally. There needs to be an international framework to control AI as it represents another technological evolution. In the past, technology could only produce fake voices, but nowadays it can generate fake images. This poses a great danger to our nation and the world," the premier underscored.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei mentioned that AI tools also provided new energy and productivity, enhancing work efficiency when used correctly.

Samdech Thipadei urged the relevant ministries and institutions to establish legal standards to control and ensure the proper use of AI for the benefit of society and the nation.
