Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 9 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Chairman of the Supreme Privy Council of the King and President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), departed for Japan on Tuesday (Jan. 9) for eyes checkup.

Accompanying Samdech Techo are his four children and his grandchild Yaya, whose activities are frequently shared by Samdech Techo on his social media accounts.

Samdech Techo lost his left sight on 16 April 1975, just one day before the Khmer Rouge successfully invaded Phnom Penh.

Samdech Hun Sen underscored the great advantages of Japan-aided artificial vision provided to him with high quality and comfort compared to previous lens which caused constant headaches and required painkillers.

“After receiving artificial vision from Japan, I have never had a headache,” said Samdech Hun Sen during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Sihanoukville container terminal on 1 May 2023.
