Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 8 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet sent a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron accepting the invitation to pay an official visit to France on 18-19 January 2024.

"His Excellency!

I would like to express my sincere respect and gratitude for inviting me to pay an official visit to the French Republic on 18-19 January. It is indeed a great honour, and I seize this opportunity with a steadfast commitment to discussing and strengthening our bilateral relations.

The recent visit of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni to Paris marked an important step towards strengthening the partnership between our two nations. To sustain this momentum, my visit seeks to further deepen cooperation in main sectors, focusing on current environmental challenges, especially energy transitions and climate change, and promote peace in the world.

In addition, strengthening economic ties, sharing sustainable development strategies, cooperating in the defence sector, and promoting our cultural heritage and Francophonie, all of which constitute foundational pillars of our bilateral relations.

I am confident that our discussions will contribute to a deeper understanding and bring together joint initiatives that benefit both countries. Cambodia is committed to continuing to participate in this effort, recognizing the importance of our partnership for our people and the international community.

I look forward to meeting and discussing with His Excellency. Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration. "
