Koh Kong (FN), Jan. 8 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that over the past three months, the Royal Government has spent nearly USD 5 million to support pregnant workers.

The premier presided over the inauguration of “Samdech Techo Hun Sen Koh Yor Bridge” and met with about 11,000 workers in Koh Kong province on Monday (Jan. 8).

"The program to support pregnant women, spanning the period before, during, and after childbirth, has been in effect for over three months. The government has allocated over USD 5 million," Samdech Thipadei underscored

Samdech Thipadei underlined that such tangible results are genuinely reaching the people. Today more than 500 hundred pregnant women have been invited to join, so I wish for everyone to contribute to ensuring that Koh Kong does not face challenges due to a shortage of people.

The premier continued, currently, our development plans are concentrated on the coastal areas, with a specific focus on four provinces. Regarding Koh Kong province, there are intentions to enhance certain industries. Over the next 10 years, substantial growth is anticipated, especially if the industrial economy in Koh Kong develops rapidly. This growth is expected to attract people from other provinces to Koh Kong, potentially increasing the population by around 300,000.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei affirmed that the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has already initiated efforts to assist pregnant women and expressed the desire to continue providing more support to the people in the future.
