Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his pride in Cambodia's ability to independently conduct the 2022 national economic census. He highlighted the improved capacity of officials and the valuable data obtained from the census.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Dec. 26) during the launching ceremony on national report on final results of Economic Census of Cambodia 2022.

"In 2022, we not only obtained valuable data but also demonstrated the capacity of the Cambodian people. Our officials showed the ability to conduct self-research. While we received technical assistance from friends and partners, the self-research capability of our officials is of something we should be proud," Samdech Thipadei underscored.

At the same time, the premier reminded that the first time Cambodia undertook the censure was in 2011 when the data situation was challenging, and most importantly, when human resources were still limited.

Samdech Thipadei highlighted that economic census data plays a key role in assisting the Royal Government in the policy-making process by providing in-depth insights into economic health, identifying opportunities for growth, and developing sound policies. Additionally, it aids the Royal Government in understanding specific sector needs, allocating resources effectively, identifying targeted interventions, and monitoring progress toward the ultimate socio-economic development goals.
