Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 4 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet directed the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) to continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY) to facilitate process for people with disabilities to obtain a valid driver's license.

The premier spoke on Monday (Dec. 4) during a celebration of the 25th National and 41st International Day of PWD at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center, Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei stated, "the MPWT and the MoH must collaborate closely with the MoSVY to facilitate the process for individuals with disabilities to obtain a driver's license. This process should align with their capabilities and the specifications of the vehicles they intend to use.”

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also instructed all relevant ministries, institutions, and authorities at every level, along with partner organizations and the private sector, to intensify efforts in implementing existing laws and regulations. Additionally, he urged continued participation in initiatives dedicated to the protection and advancement of the rights of persons with disabilities.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei commended the Disability Action Council, the MoSVY, relevant ministries and institutions, the Australian Government Disability Fund via the Australian Agency for International Development, the United Nations Development Program, local and international non-governmental organizations, and private sector partners, especially those with disabilities who actively contributed and advocated for the inclusion of people with disabilities.
