Kep (FN), Dec. 3 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet outlined necessary principles for the development of a master plan for the four coastal provinces to ensure long-term development that benefits Cambodia as a whole.

The premier spoke at the closing ceremony of the 10th Sea Festival, held on Sunday (Dec. 3) in Kep province.

On that occasion, Samdech Thipadei underscored that while the four coastal provinces may not be individually large, their collective potential in terms of coastlines, islands, and natural resources positions them as a promising hub for multi-purpose tourism and more.

The premier continued that the master plan for the development of Cambodia's four coastal provinces aims to identify and leverage each province's distinctive potential. The objective is to facilitate targeted development in specific areas, encouraging mutual support among the provinces to ultimately benefit Cambodia as a whole. This approach is geared towards avoiding competition among the provinces which could result in the erosion of common interests.

"This plan is to ensure clear development so that the four provinces do not compete with each other, but to support each other to gather forces to promote the potential of Cambodia's seaside”, Samdech Thipadei underlined.

Samdech Thipadei continued, "if any province has any potential, it is important to focus on development investment and formulate a master plan to facilitate and support that development,".

For Kep, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that it holds potential for eco-tourism and other tourism products. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize considerations for long-term value over short-term gains, learning from past development experiences that may not have been successful.

Regarding this development work, Samdech Thipadei highlighted a deliberate and steady pace, explaining that although our progress may seem measured, it ensures a swift and seamless journey. This approach involves moving in an organized manner, guided by a clear plan and vision, allowing us to navigate a long and trouble-free path. While addressing challenges may take time, the principles of systematic progress are to be integral components of the development plans for each coastal province.
