Koh Kong (FN), Nov. 30 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet shared five recommendations for ministries, institutions, and stakeholders to successfully and effectively conduct a feasibility study and investment in Stung Tatai Leu hydropower project.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Nov. 30) during a groundbreaking ceremony for the 150MW Stung Tatai Leu hydropower dam in Koh Kong province.

The five recommendations are as follows:

1. The management and staff of Cambodian Upper Tatay Hydropower Co., Ltd. should pay close attention to the construction process of the hydropower plant in accordance with technical standards, ensuring high quality and safety.

2. The company must continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Koh Kong Provincial Authority, the Electricity Authority of Cambodia, Electricite du Cambodge, and other relevant ministries and institutions to ensure a smooth project operation. At the same time, I request the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the relevant ministries and institutions to pay attention to the implementation of their duties and responsibilities in the spirit of the project implementation agreement.

3. All ministries, institutions, relevant local authorities, and citizens must continue to cooperate well with the Ministry of Mines and Energy to promote the implementation of other projects such as hydropower projects, power transmission projects, and solar power projects. This is to ensure that our country has enough affordable, stable, and independent electricity supply and can trade electricity with neighboring countries and countries in the region.

4. Continue to encourage investors to invest more in the energy sector, especially in the renewable energy sector and infrastructure such as power stations.

5. Promote and disseminate public awareness and active participation in the implementation of the National Energy Efficiency Policy 2022-2030 in both the public and private sectors.
