Koh Kong (FN), Nov. 30 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reiterated that, in this mandate, the Royal Government will further assume responsibility for the citizens, the environment and the nation in three key areas, speaking on Thursday morning (Nov. 30) at a groundbreaking ceremony for the 150MW Stung Tatai Leu hydropower dam in Koh Kong province.

"We are developing and will continue to develop with three core responsibilities. The first responsibility is enhancing the livelihoods of citizens nationwide and strengthening the national economy. The second responsibility is overseeing all developments and meticulously evaluating their impact on the environment, people, and animals. The third responsibility is contributing to protecting the environment, particularly in addressing global climate change," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei continued that Cambodia has transformed from a war-torn country into a nation with complete peace. Cambodia has elevated itself to become a low-middle-income country and aims to achieve high-income status by 2050 to enhance the livelihoods of citizens nationwide.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei added that for every dam construction project, the relevant ministries and institutions spend one to four years assessing the impacts on forests, ecosystems, and citizens. After completing the assessment, the Council for the Development of Cambodia will approve the project.
