Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rattanak stated that Cambodia still adheres to the policy of restricting the overseas exports of building stones, leaving the stones to serve the national development.

Rattanak’s statement was made during a press conference on "Mineral and Energy Policy in Cambodia" on 21 November 2023 at the Sokha Hotel Phnom Penh.

Minister Keo Rattanak underscored, "Currently, there is an ample supply of building stones in Cambodia, and the nation, under the leadership from Samdech Techo Hun Sen to Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, maintains a steadfast policy of avoiding the export of the stones abroad."

The minister also highlighted that this policy is aimed at conserving resources for the development of public infrastructure, enhancing the well-being of the people, and supporting current and future construction projects.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Mines and Energy has declared its commitment to prioritize environmental conservation principles before issuing mining licenses to private companies.
