Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rattanak stated that since the new Cambodian government, led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, took office approximately 90 days ago, the prime minister has been working tirelessly to deliver on his pre-election pledges regarding energy sector.

In the energy sector, not only does the new administration fulfill its commitment to avoid raising electricity prices, but also helps lower electricity costs for certain priority sectors to stimulate national economic growth.

Rattanak’s statement was made during a press conference on "Mineral and Energy Policy in Cambodia" on 21 November 2023 at the Sokha Hotel Phnom Penh.

Minister Keo Rattanak underlined, "It has been [nearly] 90 days since Hun Manet took office and the new government has delivered on its pre-election commitment not to increase electricity tariffs. Furthermore, it is actively reducing prices for key national sectors, including industry, agro-industry, and tourism. This underscores the commitment of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, who has diligently worked day and night to fulfill these promises, demonstrating resilience and providing discounts even in challenging circumstances. While global energy prices are on the rise, Samdech Thipadei's commitment remains steadfast in keeping electricity prices low to support the economy”.
