Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged operators and private sector entities engaged in the trade of agricultural products and other commodities to refrain from domestic competition that might compromise their ability to compete internationally. Instead, he encouraged them to unite as a robust community representing the nation, aiming to enhance and expand competition on the global stage, ultimately leading to increased profits.

The premier spoke on Monday (Nov. 20) during the announcement of the 5th and 6th priority policy programs of the seventh-mandate Royal Government, at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

"We need to collectively consider internal competition without jeopardizing our competitiveness with neighboring countries,” Samdech Thipadei underscored.

On the occasion, the premier underlined that Cambodia operates as an agricultural exporter, actively competing with neighboring countries that are key export destinations for the global market. Despite this competition, Cambodia still has market opportunities. The key challenge is addressing gaps in Cambodian products since buyers have the flexibility to choose between Cambodian and other international offerings. By improving the quality of its products, Cambodia can attract buyers to choose its offerings over those from other countries.
