Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 17 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games not only showcased Cambodia's post-war progress, but also elevated the spirit of Angkor, fostering inspiration for patriotism among Cambodians both at home and abroad.

The premier spoke during the celebration party of the 2023 SEA Games-ASEAN Para Games, held on Friday (Nov. 17) at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games played a pivotal role in inspiring patriotism, fostering a love for sports, promoting a commitment to health, and cultivating a sense of nationalism among Cambodians from all walks of life. Cambodia is truly a nation with a high level of civilization and we must all be proud.

On the occasion, premier Hun Manet added that through the support of compatriots from all walks of life and all political tendencies, both inside and outside the country, this event has inspired patriotism and unity among Cambodians.

Samdech Thipadei continued that even though the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games have concluded, the events linger in the hearts of the Cambodian people. The enthusiasm for the games is evident, reaching even those who are not typically sports enthusiasts.

It should be noted that Cambodia has been waiting for 64 years to host the 32nd SEA Games in 2023, which symbolizes the nation's resilience in overcoming the painful legacy of the Khmer nation, particularly the tragic chapter of the Khmer Rouge regime. Cambodia's positive transformation, exemplified by its hosting of the games, has garnered global attention, showcasing the enduring peace led by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP).
