Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 17 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed resolute opposition against discrimination and extremism, and such forces shall be eliminated in order to maintain peace and harmony of the nation and the people.

The premier spoke on Friday (Nov. 17) during a Preah Sokunveary Ceremony to Supreme Patriarch, held at Champus Kaek pagoda in Phnom Penh.

"Extreme religious or political views must be eradicated and destroyed as they sow seeds of disunity in society—a detrimental force that undermines peace," the premier underlined.

Samdech Thipadei continued, "War need not be ignited by weapons; it often begins as a conflict within people's hearts—fueled by prejudice, discrimination, and animosity based on nationality or religion. These factors breed hatred and discord. On the other hand, embracing warmth, understanding, love, and mutual respect fosters an environment conducive to maintaining peace."

On the occasion, premier Hun Manet added that after the deliberation day, 7 January 1979, Cambodia is fulfilled with rapid progress and achievements, and Buddhism has also been enhanced.
