Siem Reap (FN), Nov. 16 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed the Royal Government’s commitment to boosting tourism in Siem Reap province, speaking on Thursday (Nov. 16) during an inauguration for the official launch of Siem Reap Angkor International Airport in Siem Reap province.

At the same time, the premier announced plans to establish direct flights with more international tourist destinations and expand the usage of border pass with neighboring countries.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored that in his meeting with ASEAN leaders, Cambodia negotiated to connect flights with tourist destinations of ASEAN countries including Viet Nam (Da Nang), Laos, Philippines (Cebu), and Thailand (Phuket).

In addition, Samdech Thipadei emphasized the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation to promote the establishment of these direct flights. He highlighted ongoing discussions between Cambodian Ministry of Interior and the Thai authorities to expand the utilization of border card.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the administration of Yunnan Province in China to actively engage in organizing tourism events in Siem Reap and consider offering more tour packages to the region.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underscored the importance of not only having an airport program for tourists but also ensuring the provision of quality services and supportive infrastructure to enhance the overall tourist experience. He urged the private sector to strengthen tourism services for increased satisfaction among visitors.
