Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 13 – The Royal Government decided to allocate a loan of USD 50 million at reasonable interest rates for Siem Reap tour operators, and offer other favorable terms to ensure accessible financing, with amounts tailored to each type of business.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet spoke at the 19th Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF), held on Monday (Nov. 13) at the Peace Palace.

"The Royal Government has implemented two key measures. Firstly, it has authorized banking and financial institutions to restructure loans for customers facing temporary financial hardships. Secondly, banks and Small and Medium Enterprises will issue a direct loan program, initially allocating USD 50 million at reasonable interest rates for tour operators in Siem Reap. Additional favorable conditions will be provided to ensure accessible financing, with tailored amounts for each type of business,” Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his anticipation that the USD 50 million loan initiative will yield substantial returns, projecting billions of dollars in 2024 and 2025. He emphasized the pivotal role of tour operators as the driving force in attracting tourists to Siem Reap, thereby benefiting not only the national economy but also various individuals and informal operators catering to tourists from diverse walks of life.

Samdech Thipadei stated that the Royal Government also launched a “Visit Siem Reap 2024” program to promote tourism activities in the province
