Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 13 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said the Royal Government could not lower the import tax on trucks and waive visa fee for international tourists, for they are crucial sources of national revenue.

The premier spoke at the 19th Government-Private Sector Forum, held on Monday (Nov. 13) at the Peace Palace.

"For Cambodia, visa fee is one of the main sources of non-tax revenue. In this sense, the exemption for visa fee policy is not appropriate for the Cambodian context. Cambodia does not have alternative sources of revenue to make up for the potential loss. Relevant ministries and institutions must improve and streamline procedures to attract tourists to visit Cambodia with warmth and happiness," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei added that the Royal Government has already introduced the special tax rate through Sub-Decree No. 18 ANKr.BK on the Adjustment of Special Tax Rates on Certain Cars dated 9 February 2021.
