Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 13 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet advised the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodian to add a night shift for the customs officials at dry ports to expedite exports while ensuring they receive a fair and decent salary.

The premier spoke at the 19th Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF), held on Monday (Nov. 13) at the Peace Palace.

Samdech Thipadei continued that in response to the high expense of using hard copy documents and numerous official meetings, the GDCE shall implement specific plans (1) reduce application fees and adjust service fees, (2) draft relevant legal documents permitting the use of official electronic document attachments, (3) modify the customs procedures in the ASYCUDA system and E-customs by facilitating the use of electronic forms and minimizing hard copy formats, (4) enhance the one-window mechanism to minimize physical contacts and streamline processes.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei highlighted the need to optimize and simplify the inspection process for export goods, with the goal of reducing inspection and risk-related issues to below 10 per cent. To achieve this, the GDCE will persist in promoting the training and licensing of customs brokers.
