Siem Reap (FN), Nov. 4 – Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni said the inauguration ceremony of the Angkor Wat Western Causeway is a high symbol of the Cambodian King Suryavarman II in the Angkor period.

The king spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the Angkor Wat Western Causeway on Saturday morning (Nov.4) in Siem Reap.

Today's achievements clearly mark another milestone in the historic success of close diplomatic relations over the past 70 years between Cambodia and Japan, which officially began in 1953. The process of conservation and sustainable development of the Angkor Archaeological Park in the past, of course, starts from the involvement of all stakeholders, both national and international, especially Japan.

"Cambodian late king father cared for the preservation of national cultural heritage, especially Angkor Wat, where he always brought guests who were the leaders of many countries such as the king, the head of state, and the president to visit this Angkor Wat temple during his tenure as president of the Supreme National Council of Cambodia (SNC). Then, the late king father continued to bring guests to visit our Angkor Wat temples. Angkor Wat was inscribed on the World Heritage List on 14 December 1992," the king continued.

Taking this occasion, the king praised the hard work of all stakeholders, in particular Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An under the wise leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and many other leaders who sacrificed their time, wisdom, spirit, and fulfilled responsibilities to make Angkor Archaeological Park famous in the world.
