Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 25 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, president of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) said that the interpretation of the opposition group and foreigners regarding the Paris Peace Agreement on 23 October is a violation of the practical aspects of the agreement.

Samdech Techo spoke during the signing ceremony of the alliance agreement between the CPP and 27 other political parties on Wednesday (Oct. 25) at the CPP's headquarters.

"It is funny. While 22-23 October 2023 marked the 32nd anniversary of the Paris Peace Agreement, I do not understand the interpretation of some ill-intended people. They do not even acknowledge the history of the Paris Peace Agreement. However, they dare to become an expert in interpreting the Agreement," Samdech Techo underscored.

"I do not look down on anyone, but I want them to respect the truth of the history that we have experienced. Some foreigners are also misinterpreting the agreement. Nowadays, Cambodia only adheres to the constitution. We also adhere to the spirit of the Paris Peace Agreement, but it should align with the Cambodian constitution and laws," Samdech Techo continued.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen added that no one wanted to forget what they had achieved for the Paris Peace Agreement. Samdech Techo and Cambodian late king father Norodom Sihanouk were the key actors in the Paris Peace Agreement. The Paris Peace Agreement would not have been possible without Samdech Techo's decision from Phnom Penh at that time.
