Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet expressed his intention to have the fourth child, and encouraged people to have more children to balance the kingdom’s demographic changes.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Oct. 24) during an inauguration ceremony of Techo Santepheap National Hospital, Phnom Penh.

Meanwhile, Samdech Thipadei continued that Cambodia, after the Pol Pot regime, had a population of just over 6 million, and currently has more than 17 million. We can afford to continue to grow more, the premier added.

“Currently, the population in urban areas has a low birth rate of less than 1 per cent," Samdech Thipadei added.

On the occasion, premier Hun Manet also stated that the Royal Government is very concerned about child labor and always thinks highly of pregnant women and the children.
