Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 11 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet and the Vietnamese ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Taing agreed to continue to enhance cooperation in all fields, especially trade, tourism and defense.

This agreement was made during a courtesy call by the Vietnamese ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang on premier Hun Manet on Wednesday (Oct. 11) at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, Nguyen Huy Tang once again congratulated Samdech Thipadei for receiving support to lead the Royal Government in the new legislature and wished Samdech Thipadei success.

The Vietnamese ambassador to Cambodia also commended the continuous development of all sectors of Cambodia, especially in recent years, including the effective management of the COVID19 outbreak, allowing the Kingdom to organize major national and international events, such as the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in 2022, the 32nd Southeast Asian Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games in 2023, and the general election, and so on.

The Vietnamese ambassador to Cambodia also expressed satisfaction over the continuous development of Cambodia-Vietnam bilateral relations in all fields. The Vietnamese Government affirmed its commitment to expanding existing cooperation at all levels, especially in the field of trade, tourism, defense and security, and continuing to look at new potential areas. In addition, the Vietnamese ambassador invited Samdech Thipadei to pay an official visit to Vietnam in the near future.

The meeting also focused on the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam trilateral mechanism to strengthen and expand closer and stronger cooperation.
