Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 9 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, chairman of the Supreme Council of the King, suggested the Royal Government of Cambodia that if the Israeli government does not announce the evacuation of foreigners from the country, the Royal Government of Cambodia should not allow its students to leave the people of Israel.

Samdech Techo spoke during the closing of the "The Son Under the Full Moon" TV Series, held on Monday (Oct. 9) at the OCIC, Phnom Penh.

However, if Israel allowed the evacuation, Cambodia will not hesitate to rent special planes to transport its people back, Samdech Techo added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that Cambodian prime minister, foreign minister, agriculture minister, education minister and other relevant stakeholders are closely monitoring the safety of the Cambodian people in Israel.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo also recalled the missile threats on South Korea in 2013-2014, where tens of thousands of Cambodian workers and students were staying. At that time, Samdech Techo also advised them not to leave the people of South Korea. Similarly, at the early outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic in China in early 2020, unlike other countries, Samdech Techo Hun Sen visited China, demonstrating Cambodia’s strong support for China.

On 7 October 2023, the Palestinian militant group Hamas has launched an unprecedented attack on Israel. More than 400 Cambodian students are studying in Israel.

One Cambodian student, Chan Oudom, 24, died in the Israel-Hamas violence.
