Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 25 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet stated that ASEAN must be united in order to end all conflicts in Myanmar, speaking during a meeting with Indian foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New York on 23 September 2023.

During the meeting, the Indian foreign minister expressed concern over crisis in Myanmar, especially the rapid rise in cross-border migration of the people of Myanmar, instability surrounding the border, and organized transnational crimes. He added that these issues require great attention and a clear understanding of the roots of the problems, and find appropriate solutions, and that India is ready to join ASEAN in resolving Myanmar’s crisis.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated that the escalating conflicts should be resolved based on the rule of law and should involve all stakeholders, especially all ASEAN members. Providing reasonable and effective solutions to Myanmar demonstrates ASEAN’s ability, strength and unity to act as an effective regional mechanism.

Samdech Thipadei said, "ASEAN must unite as one to end all conflicts and begin to provide assistance to vulnerable people."

Cambodia has sent special envoys to Myanmar to find reasonable solutions and continue to provide initiatives to rebuild peace for the people and Myanmar, Samdech Thipadei underscored.
