Beijing (FN), Sep. 15 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet expressed his support for China Huaneng Group for their investment in hydropower projects in Cambodia, speaking at a courtesy call by chairman of the executive board of China Huaneng Group Wen Shugang on 14 September 2023 in Beijing, China.

Samdech Thipadei encouraged the company to provide electric trainings to capacitate Cambodian people.

During the meeting, Wen Shugang thanked the premier for allowing him and the delegation to pay a courtesy call and discuss work. Wen also congratulated the premier on his recent appointment to lead the Royal Government for the 7th legislative mandate.

Prime minister Hun Manet thanked Wen Shugang for the congratulations and praised the achievements of the company in Cambodia, especially the construction of the Lower Sesan 2 Dam.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also underlined that Cambodia welcomes the import of new and modern technologies to develop the energy sector in Cambodia and encourages companies to learn more about the expansion of the electricity grid to serve the interests of the people. He also encouraged companies to develop clean energy systems and battery-powered power systems.

Regarding this, Samdech Thipadei also encouraged the company to continue discussions and cooperation with relevant ministries and institutions to examine the possibilities in the development of this sector. He also encouraged the company to explore the possibility of training human resources in the electricity sector to contribute to the development of the sector and encourage the company to continue studying the project and push for implementation in the future.

In response, Wen Shugang confirmed that the company will continue to promote the study and introduction of new technologies, and the company will discuss with relevant ministries and institutions and examine the possibility of training technical skills to young Cambodians.

Samdech Hun Manet reiterated the welcome and support of the Royal Government for the company's investment projects in Cambodia in line with the socio-economic needs of Cambodia and the policies of the Royal Government.
