Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 14 – Samdech Hun Sen, the president of Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), recalled the vision of building food security in the Mekong region to supply the production chain, and the initiative of the establishment of rice exporters association in order to ensure price stability and supply agreement.

Samdech Techo spoke during his meeting with the president of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA) Takahashi Fumiaki, held on 13 September 2023 at the CPP headquarters.

Takahashi Fumiaki briefed Samdech Techo Hun Sen on the achievements of the Association and the preparations for the fireworks display to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Cambodia-Japan diplomatic ties, which is scheduled to take place in November 2023 in collaboration with the Committee for Organizing National and International Festivals and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Taking this occasion, the president of the JCA also informed Samdech Techo about the readiness to invite Japanese investors, especially Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to invest in potential sectors in Cambodia.

For his part, Samdech Techo encouraged and responded positively to the support of the investment in accordance with the Cambodian Investment Law and urged Japanese investors to invest in two potential sectors such as (1) the establishment of factories to process existing raw materials in Cambodia and (2) advanced technology such as car assembly plants, electronic components, and energy.

Lastly, Samdech highly valued the people-to-people ties and viewed it as a bamboo bridge to be maintained for the connection, even though there is a concrete bridge, which refers to good diplomatic relations.
