Kandal (FN), Sep. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet said in the future, there will be a new royal decree on the appointment of advisors and assistants of the prime minister, deputy prime minister, and senior minister.

The premier spoke on Friday morning (Sep. 1) during a meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Takhmau city, Kandal province.

Civil servants and armed forces who hold additional role as advisors or assistants will have to keep only one role whether it is their official role or advisor/assistant role, Manet underlined.

Obtaining dual roles has posed negative effects on emotion and leadership of the institution, Manet added. Therefore, he asked for the understanding of those who have additional roles as advisors or assistants.

For those holding title of Okhna, they can be appointed as advisors or assistants to the ministry, but will not be granted political status.

For those who have already been appointed, they will be given six months to decide which role they choose, while the institution will conduct the evaluation, said Manet.
