Phnom Penh (FN), May 23 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reiterated that he will not ask for the pardon for convict Kem Sokha because he did not trust foreigners who interfered with the kingdom’s internal affairs.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (May 23) at an inauguration ceremony of “Techo Aphivadh” Building, the Calmette Hospital’s Polytechnic Centre in Phnom Penh.

On that occasion, Samdech recalled the past story that the foreigners worked with both him and the convict.

"I do not want foreign interference. This is Cambodia’s affairs,” the premier underlined.

Premier Hun Sen also reminded the West that because they refused to accept Cambodia’s explanation regarding Ream Naval Base, the kingdom also has the rights to refuse to accept their explanation regarding their nuclear-powered submarines.

"You have the right not to believe me; therefore, I also have the right not to believe you. In this case, I will not ask for pardon for this convict because I do not trust foreigners who interfere in my internal affairs,” the premier reiterated.

Samdech continued, "I have been the Prime Minister since I was 32 years old. It has been 38 years now. The election is approaching, so please remain silent. Let us take our own measures to address democracy in Cambodia.”
