Phnom Penh (FN), May 9 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen sent congratulatory letter to president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on the Europe Day.

"On the occasion of the "Europe Day, I , on behalf of the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, have the great honour and pleasure to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency, and through you, to all the peoples of the Member States of the European Union for their good health, happiness and prosperity," according to the letter seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (May 9).

"When I think of Europe, I see it not only as a constellation of countries but also as a larger ensemble of countries which are friends and partners. In that spirit, it is worth noting that next year will mark the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of Cambodia-European Union relations. Throughout these three decades, our friendship and close cooperation have certainly withstood the test of time. May I take this opportunity to convey my profound appreciation to the European Commission along with all Member States of the European Union for their long- standing commitment to bring peace, national reconciliation, and sustainable socio- economic development to Cambodia".
