Phnom Penh (FN), May 4 – After paying a royal audience to Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni, visiting Lao president Thongloun Sisoulith laid wreaths at the Independence Monument and the Royal Memorial Statue of the late king father Norodom Sihanouk.

Lao president arrived Phnom Penh for a state visit to Cambodia from 4 to 6 May 2023 at the invitation of Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni.

The president also received separate courtesy calls by Senate president Say Chhum and National Assembly president Heng Samrin.

President Thongloun Sisoulith and prime minister Hun Sen will hold a bilateral meeting to touch base on the further deepening of the bilateral cooperation along with some regional and international issues of common concerns, according to Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While staying in Phnom Penh on 5 May 2023, president Thongloun Sisoulith will attend the Opening Ceremony of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, the historic landmark Cambodia hosts from 5 to 17 May 2023.

The state visit of Lao president will further consolidate the existing excellent relations, good neighborliness, fraternal tie, and the Comprehensive and Long-Lasting Strategic Partnership for the mutual benefits of the two peoples.
