Phnom Penh (FN), May 2 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen called on the World Fellowship of Buddhist, the Asian Cultural Council and the Cambodian and international Buddhist communities from all denominations to work together with UNESCO and other UN agencies to promote peace and stability.

The premier spoke on the occasion of receiving the Honorary Title “Patron” of The World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB) and “Honorary Doctorate in Humanities” from the Universitas Negeri Padang of Indonesia, held on Tuesday (May 2) at Wat Phnom Cultural and Historical Site in Phnom Penh.

"I call on the World Fellowship of Buddhist, the Asian Cultural Council and the Cambodian and international Buddhist communities from all denominations to work together with UNESCO and other UN agencies to promote harmony to achieve our common goal of peace and stability,” the premier underlined.

On the occasion, the premier also commended Islam and other religions that have contributed to peace building, peacekeeping and development of Cambodia in the past and present.

Samdech also supported the initiative to organize the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the World Fellowship of Buddhist, which is scheduled to be held in Cambodia in 2025.
