Phnom Penh (FN), May 2 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen considered that the conferment of honorary title and degree upon him is a great honor for him and every Cambodian people.

The premier spoke at the conferment ceremony of the Honorary Title “Patron” of The World Fellowship of Buddhists (WFB) and “Honorary Doctorate in Humanities” from the Universitas Negeri Padang of Indonesia, held on Tuesday (May 2) at Wat Phnom Cultural and Historical Site in Phnom Penh.

Premier Hun Sen added, "The conferment shows the invaluable relationship between Buddhism, peace, development and harmonious peace of humanity. This award is truly a symbol of the Buddha's teachings, which have penetrated into human life, both socially, culturally, politically and economically."

At the same time, Samdech thanked Morita Noritada, who has been actively engaging with the Mekong countries and promoting peace and development in the region since 1993. Morita was the first person from the Asian Development Bank to visit Cambodia to discuss Cambodia's participation in the Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation Program.

Morita's tireless participation in the restoration and reconstruction of Cambodia deserves Samdech's heartfelt admiration and respect, he added.

In addition, Samdech also praised the outstanding achievements and great efforts of the WFB for a noble cause of peace for all mankind. He also pledged to support the mission and vision of the fellowship.,

On the occasion, the premier would also like to commend Islam and other religions that have contributed to peace building, peacekeeping and development of Cambodia in the past and present.
