Phnom Penh (FN), May 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that Cambodia is hosting the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games not for profit but to promote Cambodia's reputation.

The premier spoke on Monday afternoon (May 1) during the meeting with Cambodian athletes ahead of the 32nd SEA Games’ Opening Ceremony at the Peace Palace.

"This is the first time in the history of the competition that (1) Cambodia offers free tickets for domestic and international spectators; (2) Cambodia spends an additional USD 7 million for the accommodation of foreign athletes. The goal of such offer is not for profit," the premier underscored.

"I want foreigners to know more about Cambodia. This is a long-term investment and a friendship building between Cambodia and all other countries participating in the competition," the premier continued.
