Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 28 – Key representatives from the public, private, and development sectors met on 26 April 2023 at a consultation workshop to validate research findings and discuss recommendations for the development of the sanitation markets in Cambodia's northeastern region.

"The goal of the research and resulting recommendations is to support increased sanitation coverage for people living in rural areas and challenging environments, particularly the poor and ethnic minorities," according to the press release seen by Fresh News on Friday (Apr 28).

"Conducted by iDE Cambodia in close collaboration with the Ministry of Rural Development, the workshop was part of the UNICEF-funded Sanitation Market Assessment of Preah Vihear, Stung
Treng, Kratie, Mondulkiri, and Ratanakiri provinces, where sanitation coverage is significantly lower than the national average. Economic and demographic challenges mean many communities find it difficult to access sanitation services. The assessment analyses market constraints and the potential risks, opportunities, and capabilities, particularly for reaching low-income consumers".
