Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that six Cambodian-Muslim students are living in South Sudan, which is facing a political crisis and war.

The premier spoke at an inauguration ceremony of new temple of Preah Barami Vong Borey Pagoda, held on Monday morning (Apr 24) at the pagoda.

"Regarding a current situation in [South] Sudan, I just received a report yesterday that six Cambodian-Muslim students are living in the Khartoum capital [...] When Malaysia starts evacuating their citizens either by plane or ship, please ask them to evacuate [Cambodian-Muslim] together," the premier underscored.

Taking this occasion, Samdech advised the senior minister in charge of special missions Osman Hassan to follow up with this case in order to take timely actions.

More than 420 deaths and 3700 injuries have been reported by the Federal Ministry of Health since the escalation of violence erupted in Sudan on 15 April 2023.
