Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 20 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that 50,000 people took free public buses to their hometown during the Khmer New Year celebration.

The premier spoke at an inauguration of the Maternity Building of the National Children Hospital, held on Thursday (Apr. 20) at the hospital.

Samdech expressed his pleasure to see people use the Phnom Penh Capital Hall buses, which can reduce costs and help stabilize transportation fares.

"I would also like to thank Phnom Penh governor Khuong Sreng for providing public buses to transport about 50,000 people to their hometown. We did it for the last few years, except during COVID19 outbreak, in order to prevent taxies and other transportation means from raising the fares,” the premier underlined.

Samdech continued, it is also said that some people met each other on the bus and if they become couple and get married, please do send him the invitation.

The Phnom Penh Capital Administration prepared 345 public buses to transport citizens to their hometowns with free of charge on the occasion of the Khmer New Year celebration.
