Tbong Khmum (FN), Apr. 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen advised all schools to make it compulsory for students to sing Cambodian national anthem “Nokor Reach”.

The premier spoke at the inauguration of Krouch Chhmar District Referral Hospital, held on Monday (Apr. 3) in Tbong Khmum Province.

Samdech added, singing the national anthem should be made compulsory when saluting the flag not only in schools, but also for the Armed Forces.

On that occasion, the premier also recalled that he had encountered a problem where the technician put on wrong music when saluting the national flag.

"Nokor Reach" ("Majestic Kingdom Song") is the national anthem of Cambodia. It is based on a Cambodian folk tune and was written by supreme venerable Chuon Nath. The anthem was originally adopted in 1941 and reconfirmed in 1947, around the time of independence from France.
