Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 26 – Cambodian minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, Cham Prasidh, said that although the science, technology and innovation sector is a new sector and also the new mandate for the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, our high commitment with strong solidarity and political support from the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) as well as relevant ministries/institutions would overcome all obstacles and challenges.

Cham Prasidh spoke at a opening of the 1st National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation 2023, held on Sunday (Mar. 26) at Diamond Islan

Although the science, technology and innovation sector is a new sector and also the new mandate for the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, our high commitment with strong solidarity and political support from the RGC as well as relevant ministries/institutions and the National Council of Science, Technology & Innovation, would overcome all obstacles and challenges," Prasidh underscored.

"With the instruction of Samdech Techo and honorary chairman of the National Council of Science, Technology and Innovation, we must come together to foster the development of this sector; as a result, many remarkable achievements and positive outcomes have been produced and contributed to national economic growth," minister continued.

Many necessary documents have been prepared and released, namely: Cambodia’s Science, Technology and Innovation Roadmap 2030; National Research Agenda 2025; Science, Technology & Innovation Report; Evaluation Report on Technology Need, M&E Framework on the Implementation of Research Ethic; EduTech Road Map; HealthTech Road Map; AgriTech Road Map; and M&E Framework on the Implementation of Cambodia’s STI Road Map 2030. In addition, the Ministry has been preparing the draft law on Technology Transfer and draft sub-decree on Establishment and Management of Science, Technology and Innovation Park; and Sub-Decree on Research and Development Management.

Of course, the science, technology and innovation sector should not be a monopoly for a specific ministry. It is considered a cross-cutting sector that requires consistent and active participation from all relevant parties including inter-ministries/institutions to take into account the collective benefits.

The minister believed good cooperation is necessary for national harmony to continue promoting this sector.

Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation and the National Council of Science, Technology & Innovation will coordinate and orient to align with
economic development, digital society, and the fourth industrial revolution; also continue to provide knowledge, build human resources for future generations as today’s theme, “Building Foundation for All”.
