Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 7 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen further called on divorced couples to stop ruining each other’s reputation on social media, speaking on Tuesday (Mar 7) when he presided over the celebration of the 112th Anniversary of International Women's Day at the Peace Palace.

"In the past, I called on divorce couples to stop ruining each other's reputation on Facebook. As a result, the cases have reduced. Today, I would like to continue calling on those couples to think about their children’s future, or if they do not have children, they should think about the dignity of their families," the premier underscored.

Samdech mentioned that although the violence against women has decreased, the cases of serious crimes continue to increase, such as the husband shooting his wife or domestic violence that leads to loss of lives.

Samdech urged the ministries and institutions to work hard to eliminate such serious violence through mutual respect between men and women.

"We normally hear that after marriage, the wife will become a tiger. In reality, the husband becomes a tiger. How many women in society use violence against their husbands? Violence rarely comes from women, but from men, so it requires both sides to have mutual respect," the premier added.
