Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 20 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen announced that president of the Lao People Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith will attend the upcoming SEA Games in Cambodia.

The premier spoke at the graduation ceremony of nearly 2,000 students of Human Resource University, held on Monday morning (Feb 20) at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

"President of Laos will pay an official visit and will attend the SEA Games,” the premier underlined.

Samdech’s invitation was made at a meeting with the Lao leadership on 13 February 2023, during his recent official visit to Laos.

Meanwhile, the premier added that he invited leaders of Laos and Viet Nam to attend the SEA Games. In this regard, Lao president confirmed his attendance, while Vietnamese prime minister is still pending.

On that occasion, Samdech also thanked the SEA Games Management Committee and expressed his gratitude that Cambodia is able to spend USD 120 million to host this SEA Games, excluding the construction of the Moradok Techo National Stadium.

The 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia will take place from 5-17 May 2023. The 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia will begin from 3-9 June 2023.
