Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 17 – Russia is committed to strengthening economic, political and media cooperation with Cambodia, and encouraged Russian-Cambodian businesses.

Press attaché Rafael Iangareev said during a press briefing on the foreign policy of the Russian Federation, including the recent developments around Ukraine, held on Friday (Feb. 17) at the embassy.

According to Rafael, international sanctions have had a negative impact not only on the Russian economy, but also on the global economy as a whole. He added that Russia has been facing an energy crisis and that although many Western companies have left the Russian energy market, many Russian companies have now started operating instead.

Regarding economic issues, Rafael Iangareev underlined that "Russia is still ready to continue fruitful cooperation with friendly countries, including countries from the Asia-Pacific region and ASEAN."

Regarding the political and diplomatic cooperation between Cambodia and Russia, the official highlighted the important visits of the Cambodian leadership to Russia and the participation of various inter-party meetings online.

At the same time, Rafael Iangareev reaffirmed Russia's commitment to strengthening and expanding political and diplomatic cooperation with Cambodia.

In addition, the Russian Embassy has provided assistance to encourage Russian companies, who wish to establish relations with companies from Cambodia, Rafael added.

The official also highlighted the situation of Russian media and in this regard, he emphasized Russia's readiness to open up to expand media cooperation and interaction between Russia and Cambodia.
