Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 29 – The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) is committed to eradicating all forms of extremist politics and activities to strengthen national unity and ensure a peaceful living environment for the people.

The commitment was made at the Extraordinary General Assembly of the CPP, which was held at the 7 January Palace, Phnom Penh on 28-29 January 2023.

The decision stated that the General Assembly reaffirmed the CPP's commitment to maintaining peace, political stability and security in Cambodia under all circumstances, and the party pledges to promote the strict observance and implementation of the law and resolutely oppose any hostile activities that undermine peace, democracy, the rule of law and development in Cambodia.

"In this spirit, it is necessary to get rid of all forms of extremist politics and activities from Cambodian society, not to let this trend cause national divisions, to strengthen national unity and ensure a peaceful living environment for the people,” the decision stated. “At the same time, continue to improve the implementation of the safe village-commune policy in accordance with the direction set by the Royal Government.”

The General Assembly also reaffirmed its unwavering position in safeguarding the constitutional monarchy. At the same time, continue to strengthen liberal, multi-party democracy and promote respect for human rights in Cambodia, which is an important basis for strengthening peace, stability and promoting socio-economic development.

In this spirit, the CPP actively participates with the Royal Government, the National Election Committee, political parties and all other sectors of society in strengthening the political environment for a better, neutral, non-threatening and secure election. The base adheres to the principles of law to ensure that the upcoming 7th National Assembly election on 23 July 2023 will be successful, free, fair and just, which fully reflects the will of the Cambodian people.
