Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 27 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen called on the Christian leadership, despite their different denominations, to uphold unity both internally and with other religions based on the principle of harmony.

The premier spoke at the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Christianity in Cambodia, held on Friday morning (Jan 27) in Phnom Penh.

"We oppose discrimination. We do not allow our territory to be plagued by religious conflicts. Racial and religious divisions are a major catastrophe thus are not allowed in the Kingdom of Cambodia. All Christian leaders must work together in unity, in the Christian community, in good relations with other religious communities, both nationally and internationally, based on the principle of harmony,” said the premier.

All religions have different denominations and racial and religious differences are not an obstacle to nation-building, the premier underlined.

Samdech also advised a clear structure of leadership of the Christian community in Cambodia, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Cults and Religions.
