Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 25 – On 23 Jan 2023, Huawei Laos received the Business Leader Awards for 2022 in recognition of its contributions in helping society and economic development. Together receiving the award are other of 80 business organizations from across the country.

The event was hosted by the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the awards were presented by the minister of industry and commerce, Malaythong Kommasith.

Prime minister Sonexay Siphandone presided over the event along with members of the Chamber, ministers, deputy ministers and business representatives.

Sixty-one of the business units that received awards were from Vientiane, six from Savannakhet province, five each from Champassak and Attapeu provinces, four from Luang Namthan province, and one each from Vientiane, Borikhamxay and Saravan provinces. The total business value of the 80 units is 2,000 billion kip and they employ more than 15,000 people.

The companies recognized this year have all made significant contributions in terms of taxes paid to the state and contributions to society. Huawei Technologies (Lao) Sole Co Ltd was recognised for its work in telecommunications.  The awardees also demonstrated effective administrations and contributed to the strengthening of the LNCCI and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The award also praises their managements which had successfully led the enterprises through crises and difficult economic situations in recent years.

This year marks the sixth time since 2016 that the LNCCI organised the business awards for enterprises that are members of the Chamber at the central, provincial and capital levels.

The objective of the awards is to commemorate the achievements and breakthroughs of entrepreneurs who led their enterprises through the various crises. They are also aimed at recognising enterprises that have the potential to contribute capital, materials and other factors to the government and make important contributions to social and economic development in Laos.

At the event, there were booths set up by business units from various sectors that displayed products and showcased achievements, especially in agriculture, industry, commerce, technology, telecommunications, services and tourism.

Huawei delivered a presentation in the business segment on digital power, highlighting the trend of digital transformation and sustainable development using clean energy with Huawei Digital Power solutions that can meet all ICT applications.

The presentation at this event showed that Huawei's solutions will play an important role in the policy of digital transformation and sustainable promotion of clean energy framed by the government of Laos.
       
According to Huawei, as of 31 December 2021, the comapny has helped global customers generate 482.9 billion kWh of green power, save 14.2 billion kwh of electricity, and reduce carbon emissions by 230 million tonnes, equivalent to planting 320 million trees.

Huawei is helping and cooperating with government agencies in line with the trend of taking Laos into the digital age, the industrial age 4.0 and using sustainable energy to achieve the goals of the national socio-economic development plan.
