Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 19 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen allowed the Techo Santepheap National Hospital to have five deputy directors, recruit an additional 200 doctors, and more 300 contract staff.

The premier spoke during inspection of construction progress of Techo Santepheap National Hospital, held on Thursday morning (Jan 19) in Phnom Penh.

"We already appointed the director of the hospital [Techo Santepheap National Hospital]. I already approved health minister Mam Bunheng's request to have five deputy directors. Currently, we have gathered 150 doctors in various hospitals, which provided by the Ministry of Health. Yet, it is not enough as we need up to 1,000 specialized doctors. Thus, I would like to announce to recruit more 200 doctors. The Ministry of Public Service and Ministry of Economy and Finance shall prepare the budget during the exam and post-exam [...] In addition, we still need drivers, cleaners and so on. Therefore, I allow to recruit more 300 contract staff," the premier said.
